When I started this blog, I had planned on sharing my workout routine. Unfortunately, I got busy and didn't put much time or effort into my workouts. But it's a new year and a new me! So from now on I am going to share my new workouts with you and rate them. There are soooo many fitness websites and blogs with a bajillion different workouts. So how do you choose one? Well if you like, you can come here to see what I've tried and whether or not it's worth your effort.
So here we go!
By now I'm sure everyone has heard about the sensation that is CrossFit, and sure, a short, high intensity workout is totally my thing. Why don't I sign up?
Well 2 reasons: 1) I'm totally intimidated. 2) I'm totally broke.
What's a girl to do?
She should just do interval training at home, or in her gym. There's no one yelling at you like a drill sergeant to motivate you, but hey, it's free ;)
I found a great workout from one of my favorite fitness blogs blondeponytail.com
So this is one is pretty intense, especially if you're a beginner. To be honest, I only made it halfway through(I'm not much of a runner.) But I felt soooooo good afterwards and now I can make a personal goal to be able to finish this workout, 6 times through. Yikes. I've got some work to do.
So here's my workout review:
Target Areas: This is definitely a total body workout.
Intensity: 4/5. I gave it a 4 because I was totally out of breath and exhausted, but I think if I slowed my pace on the treadmill it would have been a little easier.
Boredom factor: 2/5. Just during the treadmill parts, but that's why I dislike the treadmill.
Soreness factor: 2/5. I can tell I burned a lot of calories, but only my arms were sore from all the pushups.
And the verdict is....
Do this workout! Here are my 3 reasons why you should give it a try:
1)It's pretty short, depending on how fast you run/walk.
2) It will definitely get your heart rate going
3) It's a total body workout that combines cardio and strength training.
P.S. If you want to try this workout at home but don't have a treadmill, modify it by replacing the treadmill part with your favorite at-home cardio routine.
Have fun and hydrate!
